Interests and Passions:
Over the years my interests and passions have changed and modified. When I was in kindergarten through elementary school I was really into ballet, kickball, climbing trees, snow sports, and being in nature. In middle school, my interests in ballet changed to different types of dances. I was also interested in volleyball, basketball, baking, photography, and outdoorsy things like camping and hiking, and I still loved to climb trees. When I moved on to high school, I was still interested in dance but soon I found another sport that took all of my interest, lacrosse. I continued to enjoy baking and photography and my love of snow sports, tree climbing, and nature did not change.

Lacrosse
Sports have always been a big part of my life, but I would bounce around sports trying to find the best sport that fits me. halfway through my 8th-grade year, I started playing lacrosse, but I was not that into it. My parents said I should at least try playing over the summer for a club team because my brothers played. I played over that summer coming into my freshmen year and I fell in love with the sport. I started out as a defender and tried my best to learn everything about defending. Then the next season I switched to midfield (both defense and attack) and found that I loved taking the draw (ball toss at the beginning of the game) and running between defense and attack. Covid hit and my lacrosse career was hit hard. I started to lose interest in the sport as the shutdowns continued. When the shutdowns lightened my parents told me to try again and I did. I found my love for the sport again but for some reason, the head coach kept me on a lower-level team, and I was not having fun. I began to get frustrated and asked to get moved up, but she did not move me up. I realized she had me on the team because there were only two draw takers, and I was one of them. I kept practicing and playing to the best of my ability even though I was in the wrong division and was frustrated. The next tryouts I was moved up but so was the rest of my team I was just on. This has been going on for almost two years now and I could have switched clubs, but I was scared of switching to a club I knew nothing about. I regret that decision because I would have been playing top Elite teams by now, but I learned from my mistake. Right now, I am still not on the correct team and several other people including coaches have told me that, but I have learned to deal with it and play to the best of my ability. I want to play lacrosse in college in either a division 1, 2, or 3 leagues and I have been training to get there.

Skiing & Snowboarding
Skiing has always been one of my passions ever since I was little. My dad was a ski race coach and before that he used to race. He wanted all his kids to start learning how to ski at a young age so we would have the skill when we were older, and we could go on family ski trips. My dad taught me how to ski at around three years old. From then on, I improved, and skiing became second nature to me. When I was in elementary school my ski friends started trying snowboarding. Since I was beginning to get bored of skiing, I tried snowboarding. Before I could try snowboarding my dad wanted me to first master a double black diamond run called "the wall" at our local ski resort. Once I master it, I was allowed to try out snowboarding. I was not allowed to drop skiing fully, but I was allowed to do both skiing and snowboarding if I split my time evenly between the two. My friend tried to teach me how to snowboard, but I ended up getting it on my own. I taught myself how to improve my snowboarding skills while leaving time to ski down the hard runs. Now I love going out with my family and friends and hitting the slopes on either my skis or snowboard. Both of these passions and skills I want to keep with me throughout my life because I have made some amazing memories while doing these two sports and I always have fun.

Nature Photography and Love for Nature
Another two passions that have stuck with me for several years are nature photography and my overall love for nature. I have always loved being in nature and doing nature activities like hiking, camping, and backpacking. My parents always encouraged my brothers and me to go outside and play in nature, but I did not need any encouragement. I was a very adventurous child (I still am very adventurous) and loved playing hide and seek in the woods, picking wildflowers, finding cool rocks and sticks, and making mud pies. I grew up a bit and started to get interested in photography and I really enjoyed capturing memories and beautiful things in life. I decided to mix my love for photography and my love for nature and make it a new interest/passion. On the next page, you can read more about my nature photography journey and see some photographs I have taken.
